One person was killed and another wounded Thursday morning in a shooting on Aberdeen Way, police said.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 10:59 a.m. in the 2400 block of Aberdeen Way and found one person dead at the scene, according to the Richmond Police Department. A second person involved in the incident drove themselves to a local trauma center for treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate both parties exchanged gunfire with each other, investigators said.
Detectives said they do not believe any suspects remain at large and there is no known threat to public safety.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remained under active investigation. No additional details about the victim, the wounded person, or a possible motive were immediately released.
