Richmond police made two attempted murder arrests during the week of June 29 through July 5 as officers also investigated an armed robbery of an elderly or dependent adult, a reported negligent shooting, and dozens of other crimes. The week also saw a grease spill on Carlson Boulevard that caused multiple crashes, and 21 reported vehicle thefts.

Monday, June 29

Trespassing: 2500 block of Duke Avenue. Police arrested someone for trespassing at 12:12 a.m.

Child cruelty and battery: 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Police arrested someone on charges of willful cruelty to a child and making unwanted physical contact with a spouse or dating partner at 1:53 a.m.

Vandalism: 1000 block of Factory Street. Vandalism causing $400 or more in damage was reported around midnight.

Car theft: 600 block of 30th Street. A car turned up missing right around midnight.

Vehicle recovery: 500 block of 2nd Street. A stolen vehicle was recovered around midnight.

Car theft: 5000 block of Hartnett Avenue. Another one gone by 4 a.m., before most of the block was even awake.

Vandalism: 100 block of 12th Street. Someone tampered with a vehicle at 4:15 a.m.

Car theft: 700 block of 18th Street. Half past four in the morning, and somebody's driveway came up empty.

Disorderly conduct: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Someone was reportedly intoxicated and disorderly at 4:35 a.m.

Car theft: 2800 block of Andrade Avenue. Richmond's overnight thieves keeping their usual hours, a car found missing at 5:46 a.m.

Car theft: 600 block of South 26th Street. Same story eight minutes later.

Car burglary: 100 block of Bishop Alley. A vehicle break-in was reported at 6:24 a.m.

Hit-and-run: 900 block of Dornan Drive. A hit-and-run involving property damage was reported at 9:42 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: 3000 block of Giant Road, San Pablo. A stolen vehicle was recovered at 10:40 a.m.

Car theft: 2400 block of Foothill Avenue. A car was gone by 11 a.m.

Identity fraud: 500 block of 9th Street. An identity fraud was reported at 12:12 p.m.

Car burglary: 400 block of Golden Gate Avenue. A vehicle break-in was reported at 12:21 p.m.

Armed robbery: 2000 block of Gaynor Avenue. An elderly or dependent adult was robbed with a weapon at 2:40 p.m.; the report also lists elder theft and the use of tear gas as a weapon.

Car theft: 2300 block of Grant Avenue. In broad daylight, somebody's afternoon was ruined at 4 p.m.

Aggravated assault, attempted murder: 3500 block of El Portal Drive. Police arrested someone at 4:55 p.m. on a set of charges including willful cruelty to a child, false imprisonment, residential burglary, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, criminal threats, corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, attempted murder with a weapon other than a firearm, and driving without a license.

Battery: 3200 block of Macdonald Avenue. A fight broke out in public and turned physical at 6:41 p.m.

Shooting: 2500 block of Duke Avenue. Police arrested someone on an attempted-murder charge involving a firearm, along with resisting an officer, at 6:55 p.m.

Tuesday, June 30

Resisting arrest: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested someone for obstructing or resisting a peace officer at midnight.

Car burglary: 3200 block of Rheem Avenue. A vehicle break-in was reported at 1:16 a.m.

Car theft: 4600 block of Overend Avenue. Police arrested someone for taking a vehicle without consent at 1:29 a.m.

Car burglary: 2900 block of Atlas Road. A vehicle break-in was reported at 2:57 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 2600 block of Hilltop Drive. A theft from a motor vehicle was reported at 4 a.m.

Domestic violence: 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Police arrested someone at 5:02 a.m. on charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury.

Burglary, grand theft: 200 block of Nevin Avenue. Police arrested someone at 7:01 a.m. on charges including grand theft, residential burglary, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Car burglary: 300 block of South 47th Street. A vehicle break-in was reported at 9:54 a.m.

Fraud: 900 block of Triangle Court. A fraud case involving impersonation for money or property was reported at 10:47 a.m.

Vandalism: 3000 block of Shane Drive. Someone tampered with a vehicle at 12:22 p.m.

Stolen property, hit-and-run: Somewhere in the 94805 zip code. Police arrested someone at 12:48 p.m. on charges including hit-and-run involving property damage, possession of a stolen vehicle, and hit-and-run resulting in injury.

Weapons violation: 2400 block of Nevin Avenue. Someone was exhibiting a deadly weapon at 1:03 p.m.

Domestic battery: 2200 block of Nevin Avenue. Police arrested someone for battery at 1:53 p.m.

Battery: 1000 block of Canal Boulevard. Someone was reported using unlawful force against another person at 9:45 p.m.

Car theft: 2600 block of Hilltop Drive. The second time this stretch of Hilltop shows up this week at 10:45 at night.

Burglary tools: 300 block of 28th Street. Police arrested someone for possession of burglary tools around midnight.

Rocket-fueled driver: Somewhere in the 94806 zip code. Police arrested a driver suspected of being under the influence at 1:20 a.m.

Car theft: 1400 block of Hilltop Mall Road. Another vehicle disappeared at 9 a.m.

Car theft: 1800 block of Coalinga Avenue. At 10:12 a.m., another one off the books.

Contempt of court: 1700 block of Burbeck Avenue. Police arrested someone for disobeying a court order at 10:19 a.m.

Grand theft: 500 block of Marina Way. A grand theft was reported at 12:28 p.m.

Grand theft: 1300 block of Fred Jackson Way. A grand theft was reported at 12:33 p.m.

Petty theft: 6200 block of Baywood Drive. A petty theft was reported at 12:52 p.m.

Car burglary: 3700 block of Nevin Avenue. A vehicle break-in was reported at 2:30 p.m.

Domestic violence, assault: 500 block of Harbour Way. Police arrested someone at 4:48 p.m. on charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and assault with a deadly weapon.

Armed robbery: 400 block of 23rd Street. A robbery involving a firearm, an assault, and criminal threats was reported at 5:23 p.m.

Aggravated assault: 11900 block of San Pablo Avenue. An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at 6 p.m.

Car theft: 2800 block of Barnard Street. Another car was lost to the night at 8 p.m.

Battery: 1200 block of Filbert Street. Another report of a physical assault at 2 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. A stolen vehicle was recovered at 4:13 a.m.

Car burglary: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested someone for auto burglary at 4:32 a.m.

Weapons violation: 100 block of West Nevin Avenue. Someone was reportedly exhibiting a firearm at 6:33 a.m.

Vandalism: 4800 block of Potrero Avenue. Someone tampered with a vehicle at 7:45 a.m.

Illegal dumping: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. A commercial-quantity dumping violation, along with a hazardous material spill, was reported at 11:50 a.m.

Vandalism: 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Someone tampered with a vehicle at 1:29 p.m.

Car theft: 200 block of West Chanslor Avenue. A car was reported missing at 2:27 p.m.

Drug sales: 200 block of West Macdonald Avenue. Police arrested someone for possessing marijuana for sale at 4:42 p.m.

Car theft: 3200 block of Clinton Avenue. Another vehicle disappeared at 5:30 p.m.

Car theft: 2500 block of Pine Avenue, San Pablo. Yet another one went missing 30 minutes later at 6 p.m.

Petty theft: 2100 block of Nevin Avenue. A petty theft was reported at 6 p.m.

Elder abuse: Somewhere in the 94805 zip code. A case involving harm to an elder or dependent adult, along with property vandalism, was reported at 6:35 p.m.

Grease spill closes Carlson Boulevard: A spill of what police believe was kitchen grease closed Carlson Boulevard in both directions at Interstate 80 for several hours at 6:35 p.m. The substance caused multiple vehicles to slide, including a Tesla that struck the overpass wall and at least two other cars that collided. Commenters on social media said two motorcyclists also went down. RPD said the substance was deemed non-hazardous.

Contempt of court: 1700 block of Regatta Boulevard. A contempt of court case was reported at 7 p.m.

Car theft: 700 block of Amador Street. A car went missing.

Tired and emotional: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. Police arrested someone for disorderly conduct involving alcohol at 8:13 p.m.

Friday, July 3

Firearm assault: Somewhere along Nevin Avenue, zip code 94801. An assault with a firearm was reported at 1:27 a.m.

Assault, contempt of court: 400 block of C Street. Police arrested someone at 3:54 a.m. on a broad set of charges: disobeying a fireman or public officer's order, a probation violation, criminal threats, and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

Car theft: 2600 block of Moyers Road. Richmond's early risers again at 4:36 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. A stolen vehicle was recovered at 7:21 a.m.

Residential burglary: 2200 block of San Mateo Street. Two separate forced-entry residential burglaries at the same address were reported at 11 a.m. and again at 1:46 p.m.

Fraud: 4800 block of Bissell Avenue. A fraud case involving false pretenses was reported at 1:48 p.m.

Vandalism: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Property vandalism was reported at 6:09 p.m.

Petty theft: 600 block of Key Boulevard. A petty theft was reported at 8 p.m.

Domestic battery: 500 block of 19th Street. Police made an arrest after responding to a domestic violence call at 10:25 p.m.

Saturday, July 4

Warrant arrest: 600 block of 32nd Street. Police arrested someone on a bench warrant for failing to appear on a misdemeanor charge, around midnight.

Fireworks: 1700 block of Regatta Boulevard. Fireworks were seized around midnight.

Firearm assault: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. An assault with a firearm was reported around midnight.

DUI: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested someone for DUI at 12:01 a.m.

Domestic violence: 600 block of 3rd Street. Police arrested someone for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant at 12:30 a.m.

Disorderly conduct: 300 block of 25th Street. Police arrested someone for disorderly conduct involving alcohol at 12:31 a.m.

Grand theft: 700 block of McLaughlin Street. A grand theft was reported at 5:22 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. A stolen vehicle was recovered, and, separately, another vehicle was reported taken without consent at 3:22 p.m.

Fireworks: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. A fireworks violation was reported at 8:34 p.m.

Reckless driving: 200 block of 1st Street. Police arrested someone at 10 p.m. on charges of reckless driving, an open container violation, and driving without a license.

Assault on an officer: 2300 block of Garvin Avenue. Fifteen minutes later, police arrested someone at the same address on charges of resisting a peace officer and assaulting an officer.

Car theft: 2700 block of Sheldon Court. A car went missing at 1:32 a.m.

Firearm discharge: 300 block of 4th Street. Someone was reportedly firing a gun in a grossly negligent manner at 2:36 a.m.

Petty theft: 5800 block of Panama Avenue. A petty theft was reported at 7 a.m.

Car theft: Florida Avenue and South 33rd Street. Another one gone at 9:25 a.m.

Vandalism: 100 block of Schooner Court. Vandalism under $400 was reported at 9:49 a.m.

Domestic battery: 2400 block of Lancaster Drive, San Pablo. A battery involving a spouse or dating partner was reported at 10:36 a.m.

Vandalism: 400 block of 35th Street. Vandalism under $400 was reported at 12:50 p.m.

Petty theft: 200 block of South 21st Street. Someone reported a dog stolen at 1:35 p.m.
