• STUPID F#%KING BIRD
Masquers Playhouse

ONE FINAL WEEKEND! Limited tickets are available for Friday and Saturday!

An aspiring young playwright rails against the art created by his mother’s generation. A nubile young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist. And everyone discovers just how disappointing love, art, and growing up can be. In this irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Chekhov’s The Seagull, Aaron Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, in search of the true meaning of it all. STUPID F@#KING BIRD will tickle, tantalize, and incite you to consider how art, love, and revolution fuel your own pursuit of happiness.

Learn to eat your veggies and your natives!
Annie’s Annuals & Perennials Saturday, March 16, 11:00 am-12:00 pm

Did you know that there are many CA native plants that can feed you, along with insects, birds, bees, and other wildlife? Come learn how to grow delicious native edibles at our next FREE TALK on Saturday, 3/16 at 11 am with Christina Moss. Planting natives brings pollinators and other beneficial insects which will make all of your garden plants happy and healthy, plus many natives need little to no summer water and are happier without the fuss.

Christina is a self-taught gardener who began her edible gardening journey with the mission of consuming no city water. By implementing regenerative water retention practices, she was able to feed her thirsty edible garden, and the rain tanks never ran out of water! Learn more about this talk and Christina on our Talks page.

A Pie in the Sky will also be on hand on March 16th, selling their delicious pies and pastries. Plus, Saturday is also our second Native Extravaganza Day, when a percentage of proceeds from all CA native plants sold will go to support the Bay Area's Bringing Back the Natives Tour! at bringing_back_the_natives_tour |

Sisters in Solidarity
17th annual International Women’s Day celebration Saturday, March 16th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Lavonya Dejean Middle School
.

This year, we will pay tribute to the late former Mayor Irma L. Anderson, who was a trailblazer in the City of Richmond, Contra Costa County, and state-wide. Throughout her life, she touched so many people through her service and she encouraged others to serve. She has mentored and guided countless people, specifically women who strived to have careers in the public sector. This year, the Sisters in Solidarity will award its inaugural award of the Irma L. Anderson Legacy Award for Service. We hope that you and your family will be able to join us in celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month. As usual, we will host an afternoon of networking, resource sharing, fun, engaging activities, and a panel discussion on our theme: Count Her In: Invest in Women and Accelerate Progress. We look forward to seeing you and fellowshipping with you during this free, family-friendly community event. Please share this information with your networks and on your social media platforms. Lunch will be provided. Registration is not required but is preferred via Eventbrite to help us prepare for the event.

• JINX JONES & THE KINGTONES
Baltic Kiss Sunday, March 17, 2024
7:00 PM 11:55 PM

Jinx is a guitar virtuoso who seamlessly moves from rockabilly to jazz to twang and back again, sometimes in the same song. Those with a liner note obsession will remember Jinx’s playing on En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind.”

“Jinx Jones is out there. Four or five nights a week, the great guitar player with the immaculate pompadour can be found at various Bay Area venues, working the stage, doing his thing. The Colorado native came up serving as a sideman to rock ’n’ roll royalty, playing with the likes of Chuck Berry and Solomon Burke.

• Neighborhood Maker's Faire
Factory Bar

Sunday, March 24, from 2-7 p.m.

The Factory Bar is partnering with a few of our closest neighboring businesses to create a giant neighborhood Maker's Faire. Along with Fably-Lous Plants (previously Naza's Boutique), Tacos El Tucan, Metztli Boutique, and Waffles & Cream, we are hosting over 30 artists and artisans (more being added daily) in our parking lots and patio (yes, The Factory Bar's patio will still be 21 and over, but all other business spaces are open to all). We are looking forward to highlighting some of the best local arts and crafts in the best neighborhood around! We'll be hosting all sorts of artists and makers. From painters, to chocolatiers, from candle makers to bakers, jewelry artists to clothing brands. We'll even have one screen printing on-demand.

For the last couple of years, we've seen our little corner of Richmond, on San Pablo Ave (at Clinton Ave), blossom into a bustling, walkable place of community. Nestled in between the North and East Neighborhood and Richmond Heights neighborhood, there is just so much energy from families, businesses and community organizations. We feel this will be a great opportunity to celebrate all of that energy and bring the neighborhood out!
