What happened in Richmond: 19 stolen cars, an arson arrest and a machine gun

Richmond police made arrests this week in an attempted murder and an arson case. Officers also logged 19 stolen vehicles between Sept. 14 and 20, putting car theft among the week's most common calls alongside a string of burglaries.

Monday, September 14

Domestic battery arrest: 600 block of Tewksbury Avenue. An arrest for domestic battery was made at 12:17 a.m.

Grand theft: 700 block of McLaughlin Street. Property was reported stolen at 3:24 a.m.

Vandalism tools arrest: Somewhere in the 94801 ZIP code. A suspect was arrested on charges of vandalism and possessing tools with intent to vandalize at 5:05 a.m.

Car goes missing on Carlson: 700 block of Carlson Boulevard. A vehicle was reported stolen at 6:25 a.m.

Break-in and car theft: 5200 block of McBryde Avenue. A home was broken into by force and a vehicle was taken at 7:47 a.m.

Petty theft: 5200 block of Imperial Avenue. Items were taken from a vehicle at 8:51 a.m.

Commercial burglary: 2400 block of Lancaster Drive. A business was entered by force at 9:20 a.m.

Arson arrest: 2300 block of Roosevelt Avenue. A suspect was arrested for arson of an inhabited structure at 9:21 a.m.

Petty theft: Greenview Lane. A theft was reported at 9:51 a.m.

Resisting arrest: Somewhere in the 94805 ZIP code. A person reportedly resisted an officer at 9:59 a.m.

Felony DUI arrest: 400 block of South 38th Street. A driver was arrested on charges including a prior-conviction felony DUI, battery on an officer and resisting arrest at 10:53 a.m.

Attempted murder arrest: 600 block of South 31st Street. A suspect was arrested on a charge of attempted murder with a knife at 11:15 a.m.

San Pablo Avenue comes up short: 12700 block of San Pablo Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 11:39 a.m.

False imprisonment: 500 block of South 12th Street. A domestic incident that also involved vehicle theft and battery was reported at 12:02 p.m.

Residential burglary: 2600 block of Macdonald Avenue. A home was entered without force at 12:33 p.m.

Criminal threats: 800 block of Bissell Avenue. A person was reported for making criminal threats at 12:58 p.m.

Aggravated assault: Harrison Court. An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at 1 p.m.

Auto burglary: Washington Avenue. A vehicle break-in was reported at 5 p.m.

Hit-and-run: 700 block of 35th Street. A driver was said to have fled after crashing and causing property damage at 5:27 p.m.

Domestic battery: 600 block of 25th Street. A suspect was arrested for domestic battery at 6 p.m.

Grand theft: Bay Harbor Court. Property was reported stolen at 6 p.m.

Drug sales arrest: Somewhere in the 94801 ZIP code. A person was arrested on charges of possessing cocaine base and a controlled substance for sale, along with resisting arrest, at 6:25 p.m.

Conspiracy and child injury: 100 block of Macdonald Avenue. A conspiracy charge and a child injury case were reported at 7:52 p.m.

DUI arrest: 600 block of Harbour Way. A driver was arrested on a DUI charge involving bodily injury at 2:18 a.m.

Auto burglary: 900 block of South 45th Street. A vehicle break-in was reported at 4:35 a.m.

Aggravated assault: 2500 block of Lancaster Drive. An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at 4:48 a.m.

Identity fraud: 3500 block of El Portal Drive. A fraudulent application was reported at 8:22 a.m.

Child cruelty: 2900 block of Hilltop Mall Road. A child cruelty case was reported at 9:02 a.m.

False ID arrest: 5000 block of Hartnett Avenue. A person was arrested on charges of giving false identification to an officer and a probation violation at 9:36 a.m.

Phosphorus flare found at Coastal Cleanup: Marina Bay Park. Volunteers found a water-logged military canister containing phosphorus, used as a water flare, during Richmond's California Coastal Cleanup Day event. Richmond Fire responded, contacted Travis Air Force Base, and conducted a controlled detonation in a safe container to reduce transport risks.
