Thousands of people gathered Sunday on 23rd Street in Richmond to celebrate the city’s annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, a colorful, day-long event filled with music, food, and community pride.
Stretching from Rheem to Clinton avenues, the festival featured two live music stages, dozens of food stalls serving traditional Mexican cuisine and others, and demonstrations highlighting the region’s Latino heritage.
Community organizations, local artists, and the City of Richmond — including the Richmond Public Library and Richmond fire and police departments — set up booths to engage with the public and share resources.
The 23rd Street Merchants Association organizes the free, family-friendly event, which is one of East Bay's largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
