What happened in Richmond: A North & East carjacking, arson and 14 stolen cars

Richmond police handled a week of robberies, assaults, domestic violence cases, and vehicle thefts, including a carjacking at knifepoint and an arson. Police also made several arrests involving weapons, drugs and stolen property between August 24 and 30.

Monday, August 24

Battery and false imprisonment: 1300 block of Garvin Avenue. Police arrested a person on suspicion of battery against a spouse or dating partner and false imprisonment with violence at 2:38 a.m.

Domestic violence arrest: 3200 block of McBryde Avenue. Police arrested someone on domestic violence charges at 5:30 a.m.

Stolen vehicle recovered: Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. Police recovered a stolen vehicle at 9:57 a.m.

Stalking and threats: 5100 block of Fleming Avenue. Police received a report of stalking and criminal threats at 10:46 a.m.

Criminal threats: 18th Street. Someone threatened to commit a crime at 11:57 a.m.

Fraud: 2600 block of Hilltop Drive. Police took a report of fraud at 12:03 p.m.

Domestic violence: 100 block of West Macdonald Avenue. Police arrested a person on domestic violence charges at 1:17 p.m.

Vehicle recovered: 1300 block of South 51st Street. Police recovered another stolen vehicle at 3:47 p.m.

Vehicle theft: 3900 block of Solano Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 5:51 p.m.

DUI: 100 block of 5th Street. Police arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI and willful child cruelty at 8:24 p.m.

Disorderly conduct: 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Police arrested a person on an alcohol-related disorderly conduct charge at 8:42 p.m.

Fraud: 700 block of Harrison Drive. Police took a report of fraud at 9:42 p.m.

Disorderly conduct arrest: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested a person on an alcohol-related disorderly conduct charge at 9:49 p.m.

Tuesday, August 25

Battery: 400 block of 1st Street. Police received a report that a person was assaulted by a spouse or dating partner at 1:20 a.m.

Assault and drug arrest: Unknown location in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested a person on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:36 a.m.

Drug trafficking arrest: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested a person on suspicion of possessing and transporting a controlled substance for sale at 3:23 a.m.

Battery and court-order violation: 2nd Street. Police arrested a person on suspicion of battery and violating a domestic violence court order at 6:14 a.m.

Vehicle theft arrest: 500 block of 4th Street. Police arrested a suspected car theft at 7:42 a.m.

Vehicle theft: West Macdonald Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 8:50 a.m.

Assault with a deadly weapon: 5000 block of Valley View Road. Police received a report of an assault at 11:55 a.m.

Child cruelty and battery arrest: 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Police arrested a person on two counts of child cruelty and spousal battery at 12:30 p.m.

Battery: 1400 block of Cutting Boulevard. A person was struck and injured at 1:09 p.m.

Fraud: 4700 block of Macdonald Avenue. Police took a report of fraud involving more than $400 at 1:57 p.m.

Arson: 4500 block of Macdonald Avenue. A property was set on fire at 2:08 p.m.

Robbery and battery arrest: 300 block of South 23rd Street. Police arrested a person on suspicion of strong-arm robbery, spousal battery, and an outstanding warrant at 6 p.m.

Battery and vandalism: 1600 block of Ohio Avenue. Police received a report of a battery and two counts of vandalism at 8:26 p.m.

Fraud: 1700 block of Northshore Drive. Police took a report of fraud at 11:40 p.m.

Wednesday, August 26

Six-charge robbery arrest: West Macdonald Avenue. Police arrested a person on suspicion of domestic violence, exhibiting a firearm, false imprisonment, willful child cruelty, vandalism and armed robbery. 

Domestic violence: 600 block of South 31st Street. Police received a report involving domestic violence, spousal battery and first-degree robbery of an inhabited dwelling at 12:13 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 1600 block of Esmond Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 2:23 a.m.

Commercial burglary: 400 block of 1st Street. A business was burglarized at 3:24 a.m.

Burglary: 900 block of Lucas Avenue. A home was entered without force at 4 a.m.

Carjacking at knifepoint: 3200 block of Esmond Avenue. A vehicle was taken by force with a knife at 5:10 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 1000 block of 18th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 6 a.m.

Stolen vehicle recovered: 2400 block of Foothill Avenue. Police recovered a stolen vehicle at 8:51 a.m.

Resisting arrest: West Macdonald Avenue. Police arrested a person on suspicion of obstructing an officer at 9:50 a.m.

Burglary and assault arrest: 4400 block of Ohio Avenue. Police arrested a person on suspicion of commercial burglary and assault with a deadly weapon at 11 a.m.

Stolen vehicle possession arrest: 1300 block of Carlson Boulevard. Police arrested a person on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle at 11:38 a.m.

Fraud: 3200 block of Lowell Avenue. Police took a report involving a forged access card at 1 p.m.

Vehicle theft: 600 block of Banks Drive. A vehicle was reported stolen at 1:45 p.m.

Criminal threats: 1400 block of Marina Way South. Police received a report of a threat to commit a crime at 4:30 p.m.

Trespassing and theft arrest: 4500 block of Macdonald Avenue. Police nabbed a suspected trespasser at 4:34 p.m.

Vehicle theft: 200 block of 7th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 6:05 p.m.

Thursday, August 27

Commercial burglary: 3500 block of Cutting Boulevard. A building was burglarized at 5:31 a.m.

Harassment and intimate images: 3200 block of Lowell Avenue. A resident reported repeated harassment and the distribution of intimate photos at 10:11 a.m.

Mail theft: 1200 block of Sanderling Isle. A resident reported stolen mail at noon.

Stolen property arrest: 600 block of 32nd Street. Police arrested a person on suspicion of receiving known stolen property at 1:10 p.m.

Battery: 5000 block of Valley View Road. A person was struck and injured at 2:20 p.m.

Drug paraphernalia arrest: Somewhere in the 94530 zip code. Police arrested a person on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia at 2:29 p.m.

Commercial burglary: 700 block of Bissell Avenue. A business was burglarized at 3:30 p.m.

Weapon exhibited: 200 block of South 23rd Street. Police received a report that a weapon other than a firearm was exhibited as a deadly weapon at 4:40 p.m.

Gunfire: 900 block of Triangle Court. A firearm was discharged in a grossly negligent manner at 9:30 p.m.

Domestic violence: 600 block of 6th Street. Police received a report of corporal injury involving a domestic violence victim at 10:22 p.m.

Fraud: 2100 block of Esmond Avenue. Police took a report involving a stolen access card at 10:28 p.m.

Friday, August 28

Trespassing arrest: 600 block of 15th Street. Police arrested a person on suspicion of alcohol-related disorderly conduct and trespassing on posted property at 5:27 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 400 block of South 25th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 6:44 a.m.

Dog theft: Isabel Street. A dog was taken in an incident classified as grand theft at 8 a.m.

Child cruelty and battery: 2800 block of Moyers Road. Police received reports of child cruelty and battery at 8:50 a.m.

Battery: 4200 block of Hilltop Drive. A person was struck and injured at 9 a.m.

Grand theft from a person: 500 block of Berk Avenue. Property was taken directly from a person at 11:17 a.m.

Battery and child cruelty arrest: 2100 block of Northshore Drive. Police arrested a person on suspicion of spousal battery and child cruelty at 5:26 p.m.

Battery arrest: 4500 block of Wall Avenue. Police arrested a person on suspicion of spousal battery at 7:19 p.m.

Disorderly conduct arrest: 600 block of 19th Street. Police arrested a person on an intoxication-related disorderly conduct charge at 8:15 p.m.

Court-order arrest: 100 block of 15th Street. Police arrested a person on suspicion of violating a court order at 9:23 p.m.

Saturday, August 29

Firearms arrest: Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested an individual for carrying a loaded firearm in public at 1:38 a.m.

Commercial burglary: The 12800 block of San Pablo Avenue. A business was forced open at 6:57 a.m.

Contra Costa College Art Building damaged, fenced off after weekend fire

This story was updated August 30, 4:45 p.m. A fire on the Contra Costa College campus Saturday damaged one building and, according to authorities, was intentionally set. Court-order and corporal-injury arrest: 600 block of 34th Street. Police arrested a person on suspicion of violating a domestic relations court order and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant with prior felony convictions at 8:52 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 200 block of South 5th Street. A vehicle was taken without the owner's consent at 10:13 a.m.
