Richmond police said an adult male was hospitalized Tuesday night after being shot at the Triangle Court Apartments.
Lt. Donald Patchin, public information officer for the Richmond Police Department, reported that officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 900 block of 9th Street at 8:46 p.m.
"Officers responded and located one victim suffering from gunshot wounds," Patchin said. "The victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where they remain."
In July, police found 43-year-old Claude Richard III shot to death in the same block. That case was the city’s first homicide of 2025.

It also follows Richmond’s second homicide of the year, reported in September after a fatal shooting near 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue. Family members identified the victim as Jerry Williams.

“The incidents are in close proximity, so we are investigating that avenue; however, there is nothing definitively linking these crimes at this time,” Patchin said.
Police have not released further details about Tuesday’s shooting, and no arrests were immediately announced.
