■ Chris James and the Showdowns at The Grapenest, Pt. Richmond, Sat, Dec 9 @ 7:00 PM — 10:00 PM

Chris James is an established San Francisco Bay Area singer-songwriter who offers an inviting sound of rich baritone vocals, sweeping acoustic guitar, and soulful harmonica. His original songs are often mistaken for covers; while performing cover songs, he makes all his own. Along with his enduring and endearing band, The Showdowns, the group puts on an energetic, engaging live show, meshing the stylings of Southern Rock, Americana, Country, and Blues, often channeling the influences of such heroes as Tom Petty, The Eagles, Marshal Tucker, The Rolling Stones, and Creedence. singer-songwriter

Yomeddine (2018) Arabic/English Subtitles
1hr 37min Adventure/Comedy/Drama

This is the story of Beshay (non-professional first-time
actor Rady Gamal), a man severely disfigured by leprosy.
Now past middle age, his leprosy is no longer contagious but
the scars, lumps, and twisted hands are forever.
His sense of humor is a constant, and his sense of self-pity is zero.
With tongue in cheek, he calls out, “Greetings, sick people,”
at the flatland dessert dump, ironically named Garbage Mountain.
One day, Obama (first-time actor Ahmed
Abdelhafiz), a ten-year-old Nubian orphan, attaches himself
to Beshay and never leaves.
Magick Lanter is located at Pt Richmond's Methodist Church

Red Oak Victory's Homefront Movie

Join us on Thursday, December 14 as the National Park Service and Red Oak Victory present one of the best-loved Christmas movies to come out of the World War II era: Christmas in Connecticut.  A big city newspaper writer (Barbara Stanwyck) who has created an alter ego as a country homemaker finds herself in hot water when her boss (Sydney Greenstreet) invites a war hero (Dennis Morgan) to her home for the holidays. Board the ship at 6:30 PM, and the movie will start at approximately 7:30. Admission is free, but we suggest a donation of $10, although any amount is appreciated.  All donations go toward the maintenance and restoration of Red Oak Victory.  Refreshments will also be available for purchase.  And be sure to visit the newly remodeled and restocked Ship's Store in Hold No. 4.  We have several exciting new items for adults and kids (including the ship's WW II canine mascot "Snafu"), as well as a restock of many of your favorite clothing items.
