Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening at the Target shopping center on Macdonald Avenue around 6:35 p.m., authorities said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and determined a shooting had occurred, according to Lt. Donald Patchin, chief of staff for the Richmond Police Department.

Richmond police taped off a large section of the Target parking lot Sunday evening.

“One vehicle was struck, no people were hit. Investigators are working the case," Patchin said.

Officers taped off a large portion of the parking lot closest to the DaVita Dialysis center and dropped several evidence markers on the ground.

A post circulating on social media appears to capture the gunfire that took place during a car meet in the Target parking lot near the DaVita Dialysis center.

In the video, multiple people can be seen scattering as shots ring out, with several vehicles parked nearby.
