Final Thrive Thursday @Nicholl Park

Join us to celebrate the end of our summer series at Nicholl Park. This week we will have Bike Rodeo, Bike Smoothie, Salsa Class, Hip Hop, Soccer, and more! We kick off the event with the Walking Club and Walk with a Doc, then jumpstart the dancing with a Salsa Class, and end the movement classes with an energetic Hip Hop Turn Up class. Supervisor Gioia and Rising Juntos leaders will thank volunteers and participants for a successful series and collaboration. Community Booths and Resources this week! Richmond History Lecture: Winnie the Welder and the Duel of the Century @ West Side

Saturday, August 16, 2025, 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Join us for a fascinating part of WWII history. World War II gave women the opportunity to enter the workforce where they had not been recruited or even allowed previously. So many women gained skills as welders in the shipyards, there was a duel to be the best, fastest Winnie Welder. Hear about the characters and find out who won! Jim Davis, who lectures at the Rosie Riveter Museum, will highlight this anecdote from history and the wider story behind it.
