A man killed in a Richmond shooting last weekend has been identified as 20-year-old Griffin Hammond of Richmond, officials said Wednesday.

Police responded around 8:09 p.m. Saturday to multiple reports of gunfire near Potrero Avenue and Carlson Boulevard, according to the Richmond Police Department. Officers found Hammond suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second person later arrived at a local trauma center with a gunshot wound, and investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected, police said.

No arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation by Richmond police homicide detectives.

Saturday’s killing was the city’s third homicide of 2025.
