Richmond police fielded a busy week of calls between August 11 and August 17, logging dozens of arrests and reports ranging from firearms violations and vehicle thefts to arson, sexual assault, and armed robbery. The week’s blotter highlights include multiple smash-and-grab auto burglaries, repeated grand theft reports, and several violent crimes that resulted in arrests.

Firearms violations: 2100 block of Garvin Avenue. A trifecta of trouble struck at 1:30 a.m. when someone was busted with a loaded handgun they didn't own, a concealed weapon in their ride, and heat packed in public. 

Auto burglary: 800 block of Bissell Avenue. Some midnight mischief maker turned a parked car into their personal treasure chest at 2 a.m.

Auto burglary: West Barrett Avenue. Officers busted a smash-and-grab artist at 2 a.m.  

Arson: Undisclosed location in the 94804 zip code. Someone's bright idea involved matches and property damage at 4:53 a.m.

Indecent exposure: 500 block of Nevin Avenue. An unwanted morning show disrupted the peace at 9:03 a.m.

Drug paraphernalia: 94801 zip code. The wrong kind of accessories were discovered, brightening someone's day at 9:33 a.m.

Domestic violence with vehicle theft: 2300 block of Cutting Boulevard. A dispute reportedly turned to violence and car theft around 11:15 a.m.

Petty theft: 2100 block of Macdonald Avenue. Someone's sticky fingers found trouble just before noon.

Vehicle theft arrest: 1800 block of Cutting Boulevard. Police nabbed a suspected car thief at 12:24 p.m. 

Commercial burglary: 3200 block of Pierce Street. Burglars targeted a business at 2:42 p.m.

Residential burglary with trespassing: 200 block of South 21st Street. Someone struck twice - once at 4 p.m. and again at 7:51 p.m. before being arrested for trespassing.

Grand theft: 800 block of Chevron Way. Big league theft struck as the sun went down at 7:21 p.m.

DUI: The 94801 zip code. Someone's chemical-fueled joyride came to a crashing halt at 11:38 p.m. Arrest made.

Warrant arrest: 1600 block of Chanslor Avenue. Past mistakes caught up with someone in the wee hours at 12:13 a.m.

Resisting arrest: 900 block of Nevin Avenue. One fellow reportedly resisted or obstructed an officer at 9:50 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 94804 zip code. Another set of wheels went walkabout without permission at 10 a.m.

Suspended license: Richmond Parkway & Giant Road. A driver with a suspended license for a DUI was caught driving at 10:11 a.m.

Grand theft: 800 block of McLaughlin Street. A high-roller heist made the morning expensive at 10:24 a.m.

Commercial burglary: 3200 block of Pierce Street. Lightning struck twice at the same block at 10:49 a.m.

Firearm discharge: 800 block of 24th Street. Someone's trigger finger got itchy in broad daylight at 11:21 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 94804 zip code. The car theft parade continued at 1 p.m.

Alcohol violation: 2300 block of Macdonald Avenue. Public sipping turned into public trouble at 1:40 p.m.

Identity theft: 3100 block of Garrity Way. Someone's personal information was used for another person's shopping spree at 2:48 p.m.

Aggravated assault: 4400 block of Fieldcrest Drive. Officers made an arrest after violence reportedly became a serious injury potential at 4:30 p.m. 

Vehicle theft with stolen property: 94801 zip code. Police made an arrest for car theft following a double-decker sandwich of car theft and hot goods at 6:26 p.m.

Aggravated assault: 600 block of Williams Drive. Police made an arrest for aggravated assault at 6:49 p.m.  

Commercial burglary: 100 block of S 4th Street. A business became an after-hours shopping destination at 8 p.m.

Assault with a deadly weapon and DUI: 600 block of 42nd Street. Liquid courage mixed with violence, wheels, and a trip to the pokey at 8:22 p.m.

Grand theft: 400 block of Civic Center Plaza. Midnight mischief struck the heart of local government.

Warrant arrest: 94801 zip code. The long arm of the law finally reached someone at 5:33 a.m.

Grand theft: 94801 zip code. More big-ticket banditry was discovered at 6:28 a.m.

Auto burglary: 3100 block of Garrity Way. A parked car became a burglar's buffet at 8:12 a.m.

Vandalism and auto burglary: 1400 block of 26th Street. A destructive duo of property damage and car break-in at 9:30 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: 94801 zip code. A wayward vehicle found its way home at 9:55 a.m.

Firearm brandishing: 4000 block of Cutting Boulevard. Someone's gun came out for show-and-tell at 10:17 a.m.

Grand theft: 94801 zip code. High-value heisting continued the crime wave at 10:45 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 800 block of 8th Street. Another car took a vacation without asking at 1:07 p.m.

DUI: 94804 zip code. Boozy driving earned double trouble at 1:15 p.m. Arrest made.

Battery: 2000 block of Garvin Avenue. Hands got heavy in an afternoon altercation at 1:45 p.m.

Suspended license and littering: 4500 block of Santa Rita Road. Small violations piled up like the trash at 2 p.m.

Petty theft: West Richmond Avenue. A coin-operated device met its match in a small-time thief at 4:12 p.m.

Battery and vandalism: 3100 block of Shane Drive. Relationship violence included property destruction at 5:20 p.m.

Public fighting: 500 block of S 11th Street. A challenge was made to fight in public at 5:30 p.m.

Drug possession, criminal threats, and weapon display: 2300 block of Cutting Boulevard. Police made an arrest following a hat trick of trouble involving drugs, threats, and deadly weapons at 5:31 p.m. 

Auto burglary: 100 block of Berk Place. Another car shopping spree at 6:30 p.m.

Police evasion: 94801 zip code. Someone thought they could outrun the badge at 6:42 p.m.

Multiple DUI violations: 1600 block of Chanslor Avenue. A repeat offender's greatest hits, including suspended license and probation violations at 10:09 p.m.

Warrant arrest: 94804 zip code. The outstanding business was finally settled at 10:32 p.m.

Vehicle theft from a motor vehicle: 200 block of Schooner Court. A parked car got picked over at 9:52 a.m.

Contempt of court: 1200 block of Macdonald Avenue. Someone thumbed their nose at judicial orders at 10:43 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: 1600 block of Cutting Boulevard. A stolen ride found its way back home at 11:49 a.m.

Vandalism: 3100 block of Pullman Avenue. Property destruction painted the afternoon ugly at 1:50 p.m.

Assault with a deadly weapon: 500 block of Harrison Drive. Violence reportedly escalated to dangerous levels at 2:48 p.m.

Grand theft: 4900 block of Macdonald Avenue. Big-money banditry struck again at 3 p.m.

Contempt of court: 200 block of 2nd Street. More judicial defiance at 4:36 p.m.

Vessel theft: 94804 zip code. Someone borrowed a boat without asking at 6:30 p.m.

Multiple firearm violations: 4700 block of Hartnett Avenue. A young person was caught with loaded guns and ammo at 7:21 p.m.  

Simple assault: 3400 block of Humphrey Avenue. Police arrested a suspect on simple assault charges at 8:41 p.m. 

Assault with a deadly weapon and battery: 2400 block of Aberdeen Way. Police made an arrest for assault and battery at 9:51 p.m.

Multiple DUI violations: 94805 zip code. Drunk driving with a suspended license created a perfect storm at 7:10 a.m. Arrest made.

Vehicle theft: 600 block of Banks Drive. Early morning car caper at 7:55 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Another ride went rogue at 8:34 a.m.

Residential burglary: 600 block of Banks Drive. A home was burgled without forced entry at 8:39 a.m.

Vehicle theft from a motor vehicle: 2300 block of Aberdeen Way. Parked car pillaging at 10:26 a.m.

Vandalism: 100 block of S 39th Street. High-dollar destruction made its mark at 11:53 a.m.

Petty theft: 1000 block of 13th Street. Petty theft was reported just before lunch at 11:55 a.m.

Sexual assault: 2700 block of Shane Drive. A sexual assault was reported at 2:40 p.m.

Auto burglary: 4100 block of Klose Way. Car break-in bonanza at 3:30 p.m.

Auto burglary: 4500 block of Barrett Avenue. Another vehicle was violated at 4:30 p.m.

Sexual assault: 800 block of Payne Drive. A sexual assault was reported at 4:53 p.m.

Firearm discharge: 100 block of 17th Street. Reckless gunfire lit up the evening at 8:58 p.m.

Commercial burglary: 600 block of S 31st Street. Another business got uninvited after-hours shoppers at 5:30 p.m.

Vehicle recovery: 94804 zip code. A wayward vehicle returned to the fold at 8:27 p.m.

Drug possession: 94801 zip code. Illegal substances found their way into the wrong hands at 10:07 p.m.

Aggravated assault: 600 block of 12th Street. Police responded to violence with serious injury potential at 10:26 a.m.

Assault with deadly weapon and vandalism: 3900 block of Ohio Avenue. A destructive duo of violence and property damage at 12:02 p.m.

Armed robbery and carjacking: The 94801 zip code. A twofer of gun-wielding robbery and vehicle theft was reported at 12:25 p.m.

Criminal threats and resisting arrest: The 94801 zip code. Someone reportedly threatened school officials and obstructed officers at 1:15 p.m.

Vandalism: 2100 block of Hilltop Mall Road. High-dollar destruction hit the mall at 2:15 p.m.

Vandalism: 94804 zip code. More costly property damage at 4:15 p.m.

DUI with child endangerment: The 94804 zip code. An alleged drunk driver reportedly had a child in the car at 6:42 p.m.
