Car thefts crept up in Richmond last week, with 16 vehicles reported stolen between March 16 and 22, compared to 13 the week before. The week’s police logs also show a steady stream of incidents, including domestic violence calls, several DUIs, a robbery, and an arson fire on Dunn Avenue.

Monday, March 16

Vandalism, vehicle tampering, burglary tools, and probation violation: 1000 block of 23rd Street. Police arrested someone suspected of defacing property and tampering with a vehicle. Officers also reported finding burglary tools at 12:19 a.m.

Vandalism: 600 block of 2nd Street. Property damage valued at $400 or more was reported at 12:34 a.m.

Residential burglary: 800 block of McLaughlin Street. Someone crept into a residence without force at 2 a.m.

Vehicle burglary, vandalism, and petty theft: 200 block of Gertrude Avenue. A vehicle was broken into, property was damaged, and items were stolen at 3:40 a.m.

Vandalism and contempt of court: 400 block of South 24th Street. Police arrested someone after property was damaged and a protective order was reportedly violated at 4:33 a.m.

Theft from a vehicle: 2900 block of Atlas Road. Items were reported stolen from a vehicle at 5:58 a.m.

Custody order violation: 1300 block of Fred Jackson Way. A violation of a custody order was reported at 8 a.m.

Vandalism: 1600 block of Chanslor Avenue. Property damage valued at $400 or more was reported at 10:24 a.m.

Vehicle recovery: Undisclosed location in 94801. A wayward car found its way home at 11:03 a.m.

Vehicle theft: 1600 block of Harbor Lights Road. Someone's car underwent an unscheduled change of ownership at 10:30 a.m.

Residential burglary: 3600 block of Cerrito Avenue. A residence was forcibly entered at 12:36 p.m.

Grand theft from a vehicle: Undisclosed location in 94806. Property was reported stolen from a motor vehicle at 1:35 p.m.

Car theft: 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue. A car was reported missing at 1:36 p.m.

Grand theft: 100 block of 22nd Street. Property was reported stolen at 1:43 p.m.

Battery: 300 block of South 7th Street. Police arrested someone after a battery was reported at 2:30 p.m.

Robbery: 700 block of 10th Street. A strong-arm robbery was reported at 7:32 p.m.

Street racing: Undisclosed location in 94804. An illegal speed contest was reported at 10:29 p.m.

Contempt of court: 3100 block of Pullman Avenue. A person was found in violation of a court order at 10:30 p.m.

Tuesday, March 17

Petty theft: 5000 block of Hartnett Avenue. Property was reported stolen at 12:11 a.m.

Criminal threats: 900 block of Nevin Avenue. A crime was allegedly threatened with intent to terrorize at 6:19 a.m.

Commercial burglary and petty theft: 1000 block of 23rd Street. A commercial property was entered without force, and items were stolen at 7 a.m.

Battery: 4100 block of Klose Way. A physical altercation was reported at 8:25 a.m.

Robbery and battery: 4900 block of McBryde Avenue. A strong-arm robbery and battery were reported at 10 a.m.

Vandalism and civil rights violation: 3400 block of Cutting Boulevard. Property damage and a civil rights violation were reported at 11:50 a.m.

Elder abuse: 4500 block of Santa Rita Road. Cruelty to an elder or dependent adult was reported at noon.

Vandalism, DUI, and a wardrobe malfunction: 2200 block of Virginia Avenue. Police arrested a driver on DUI charges after an indecent exposure was also reported at 10:35 p.m.
