Richmond police are investigating a shooting in the 400 block of South 25th Street, where officers cordoned off a residential block Saturday night during an active investigation.
Police vehicles blocked the street as officers secured the scene with yellow police tape. Several investigators were seen examining evidence in the roadway, where multiple evidence markers were placed near parked vehicles. The area was lit by patrol car lights as officers worked behind the tape.

The Richmond Police Department issued a community alert asking residents to avoid the area while the investigation continued. Authorities did not immediately release information about injuries, suspects, or what led up to the shooting.
Police said additional details would be released as they become available.
