A man was shot and killed Saturday night in Richmond's Pullman neighborhood, and police are investigating whether a second person, who later arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound, was injured in the same incident, authorities said.
The Richmond Police Department Communications Center received multiple reports of shots fired in the area of Potrero Avenue and Carlson Boulevard, with at least one person reportedly struck by gunfire at 8:09 p.m., said Richmond Police Public Information Officer Lt. Donald Patchin.

"Responding officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Patchin said. “This tragic incident marks the third homicide of the year in the City of Richmond.”
A short time later, an individual seeking treatment for a gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital. Detectives have not determined whether the two shootings are related.
Police closed streets around the area Saturday night. Numerous evidence markers were visible in the street and in the store’s parking lot, though no arrests have been made. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Marecek at 510-621-1835.
