A man was coaxed down from a power structure Friday afternoon with the help of local mental health officials, ending a standoff that began Tuesday morning when the individual scaled PG&E equipment at South First Street and Cutting Boulevard.
Members of A3, Contra Costa County's mental and behavioral health crisis services team, and ROCK, Richmond's Community Crisis Response Program, were eventually able to persuade the man to come down from the structure. He now faces an array of charges.
A security guard at the site confirmed the individual was safely helped down from the structure sometime around 2 p.m. Friday, ending the three-day occupation of the utility equipment that brought out first responders, concerned PG&E employees, and a gaggle of onlookers.
On social media, the Richmond Police stated that a joint effort from multiple organizations, including A3 and ROCK, had been successful in resolving the standoff.

"Today at approx. 1:36 p.m., members of A3, ROCK, and PG&E were able to convince the subject to come down from the structure. Due to the amount of time he was on the structure, he was provided medical attention prior to being booked on various charges related to entering the secure facility and disrupting power systems," Richmond Police said.
