A trailer was destroyed by an overnight fire in a parking lot near the Macdonald Avenue Target store, sending flames high into the air above an area where several RVs and trailers have recently taken up residence.

An unidentified man at the scene said he heard a loud boom and went outside to investigate, where he saw flames shooting 80 feet into the air. He said the fire appeared to originate from a propane tank on the driver’s side of the trailer, where blue flames were visible as firefighters worked to control the blaze.

No one was believed to be inside the trailer at the time of the fire, as it was not yet habitable. Richmond firefighters responded to the scene and later shared images of the fire on social media.
