Richmond Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire on Nichol Knob in Point Richmond on Saturday evening which has already scorched approximately four acres.
Fire crews are battling the 3-alarm blaze that started near Dornan Drive, and they are receiving additional help from the air by way of helicopters attacking the fire from above.
By 9:15 p.m., the forward progress of the fire had been stopped, according to a city-issued Nixle alert.
"On-scene Incident Command has declared forward progress has now been stopped with extensive mop-up continuing throughout the night along with firewatch," the alert said.

No evacuation orders were issued.
Just before 8 p.m., the City of Richmond sent out the first of several Nixle alerts to residents informing them and providing updates about the fire.
Officials say all trails on the hill near the fire will be closed tomorrow as crews continue to work in that area.
