Richmond and San Pablo came alive on Saturday along the shared 23rd Street corridor, where music, dance, and vibrant displays of culture were celebrated as the annual Fiesta Patrias Parade marked the independence days of several Latin American countries.

Leading the procession as Grand Marshal was Eugene Rodríguez, director of Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy. Rodríguez rode at the front of the parade, representing the organization and the community “with honor,” organizers said.

This is only the second year for the Fiesta Patrias Parade, which is organized by the same team that brings the Cinco de Mayo festival to the community each spring.

The parade featured colorful floats, traditional dancers, and local groups, including the Richmond High School Band and cultural organizations, marching in celebration of heritage and unity. Families lined the streets to cheer on performers and participants, enjoying a morning filled with pride and tradition.

The celebration didn’t stop when the parade ended. The event concluded with a lively gathering at the Montañas parking lot in San Pablo, where attendees enjoyed live music, food, and cultural activities.

Scenes from the parade included bands performing from decorated floats, dancers in bright traditional attire, and children waving flags as they walked alongside community groups, carrying forward the spirit of culture, music, and community pride.
