# What happened in Richmond: Weekly police log details crime, arrests, and vehicle thefts

The *What Happened in Richmond* column is back, offering a snapshot of police activity across Richmond based on department data. Between January 5 and 11, officers responded to a wide range of incidents, including numerous vehicle thefts, residential and commercial burglaries, assaults, domestic violence cases, and several arrests involving weapons, DUI, and court order violations.

### Monday, January 5, 2026

**Residential burglary:** 600 block of South 52nd Street. A home was broken into by force at 12:46 a.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 94801 area. A business was found to have been burglarized after hours at 7:13 a.m.

**Battery:** 15500 block of San Pablo Avenue. A physical assault was reported at 1:17 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 94804 area. A vehicle was reported stolen at 2:28 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 5600 block of Van Fleet Avenue. Vehicle parts or accessories were stolen at 2:39 p.m.

**Court order violation and resistance:** 13th Street. A person suspected of violating a court order and resisting officers was arrested at 7:49 p.m. 

**Terrorist threats:** 5000 block of Par Court. A threat intended to cause fear was reported at 8:33 p.m.

**Domestic battery:** 700 block of Morton Avenue. A domestic assault was reported at 9:05 p.m.

**Battery:** 500 block of South 47th Street. An assault was reported at 9:21 p.m.

**Negligent firearm discharge:** 600 block of 1st Street. A gun was fired negligently at 11:22 p.m.

**Residential burglary and stalking:** 2600 block of Hinkley Avenue. A suspect was arrested after a home was forcibly entered, and stalking allegations were reported at 11:25 p.m. 

**Vehicle theft:** 94805 area. A vehicle was reported stolen at 11:54 p.m.

### Tuesday, January 6, 2026

**DUI and open container:** 94804 area. A driver was arrested for impaired driving and possessing an open alcohol container at 1:41 a.m.

**Residential burglary:** 500 block of Stege Avenue. A home was entered without force at 4:30 a.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 3500 block of Cutting Boulevard. A business was forcibly entered at 7:10 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 600 block of Chanslor Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 7:18 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 500 block of 4th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 7:41 a.m.

**Domestic violence and battery:** 3100 block of Southampton Court. A restraining order was violated, and a battery was reported at 9 a.m.

**Identity theft:** 2700 block of Chanslor Avenue. Personal information was used fraudulently to obtain credit at 9:13 a.m.

**Terrorist threats:** 700 block of 18th Street. A threat intended to cause fear was reported at 9:28 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 94801 area. A previously stolen vehicle was recovered at 10:05 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 500 block of Marina Way. Property was stolen at 11:55 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 300 block of 20th Street. More property was reported stolen at 12:31 p.m.

**Vandalism:** 2000 block of Macdonald Avenue. Property damage exceeding $400 was reported at 12:33 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 400 block of B Street. A stolen vehicle was recovered at 1:11 p.m.

**Tear gas violation:** 3200 block of Auto Plaza. Someone unlawfully used tear gas at 1:13 p.m.

**Check fraud:** 700 block of 23rd Street. Fraudulent checks were passed at 2:28 p.m.

**False pretenses:** 2300 block of Lowell Avenue. A victim was defrauded of more than $400 at 3 p.m.

**Kidnapping:** 300 block of 37th Street. Police arrested someone on kidnapping charges at 3:31 p.m.

**Weapons violations:** 94804 area. A person was arrested for possessing an unregistered loaded firearm and a large-capacity magazine at 4:29 p.m.

**Drug paraphernalia:** 800 block of Carlson Boulevard. Illegal drug-related items were found at 4:31 p.m.; an arrest was made.

**Vandalism:** 1300 block of Fred Jackson Way. Property damage was reported at 5 p.m.

**Court order violation:** 12900 block of San Pablo Avenue. Someone was arrested for allegedly violating a court order and resisting police at 6:07 p.m.

**DUI and license violation:** 94801 area. A driver was arrested for DUI while driving on a suspended license at 6:30 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 900 block of Ventura Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 7:30 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 700 block of McLaughlin Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 8:00 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 500 block of 16th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 8:10 p.m.

**Illegal ammunition possession:** 94801 area. An individual prohibited from possessing firearms was arrested after being found with ammunition at 8:20 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 3100 block of Goodrick Avenue. A stolen vehicle was recovered at 10:31 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2800 block of Lowell Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 10:34 p.m.

**Residential burglary:** 5200 block of Creely Avenue. A home was entered without force at 10:42 p.m.

**Court order violation:** 5200 block of Gordon Avenue. A court order was violated at 10:52 p.m.

### Wednesday, January 7, 2026

**Vehicle recovery:** 2400 block of Lancaster Drive. A stolen vehicle was recovered at midnight.

**Assault with a deadly weapon:** 300 block of 22nd Street. An assault involving a weapon other than a firearm around midnight was reported.

**Drug paraphernalia:** 94804 area. Someone was found with illegal drug paraphernalia at 2:08 a.m.

**Grand theft:** 1100 block of South 27th Street. High-value property was stolen from a vehicle at 4:17 a.m.

**License violation:** 94801 area. A driver was busted for driving with a DUI-suspended license at 4:36 a.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 200 block of 23rd Street. A business was entered without force at 5:15 a.m.

**Weapons possession:** 94804 area. A felon was found in possession of a firearm and a concealed weapon at 6:28 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 100 block of South 4th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 6:56 a.m.

**Grand theft:** 800 block of Lassen Street. High-value items were stolen from a vehicle at 7:26 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 300 block of South 6th Street. Another vehicle was reportedly lost to the night at 7:53 a.m.

**Domestic violence order violation:** 5200 block of Gordon Avenue. A restraining order was reportedly violated at 8:20 a.m.

**Auto burglary:** 1100 block of Roosevelt Avenue. A vehicle was broken into, and items were stolen at 9:03 a.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 700 block of National Court. Someone broke into a business at 9:59 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 3300 block of Center Avenue. A stolen vehicle was recovered at 10:12 a.m.

**Fraud:** 6th Street. Money was obtained through fraudulent means at 11:38 a.m.

**Terrorist threats:** 4800 block of Macdonald Avenue. Threats intended to cause fear were reported at 12:23 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2nd Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 2:01 p.m.

**Vandalism:** 94804 area. Property damage was reported at 3:28 p.m.

**Grand theft and vehicle theft:** 1900 block of Gaynor Avenue. A vehicle and high-value items were stolen at 6:24 p.m.

**Auto burglary and vandalism:** 3200 block of Pierce Street. A vehicle was broken into and heavily damaged at 7:00 p.m.; a second report followed at 7:40 p.m.

**Identity theft and obscene calls:** 1300 block of Macdonald Avenue. Identity theft and obscene phone calls were reported at 7:38 p.m.

**Robbery:** 1200 block of Macdonald Avenue. A theft escalated into a robbery at 8:40 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 300 block of South 15th Street. A vehicle was reported stolen at 9:30 p.m.

### Thursday, January 8, 2026

**Involuntary vehicle donation:** 2700 block of Downer Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at midnight.

**Terrorist threats and stalking:** 4400 block of Taft Avenue. Stalking and threats intended to cause fear were reported at midnight.

**Public drinking:** 500 block of Nevin Avenue. An individual was cited for drinking alcohol in public at 12:44 a.m.

**DUI:** 94801 area. A driver was arrested for driving under the influence at 4:09 a.m.

**Assault with a deadly weapon:** 1000 block of Lassen Street. An assault likely to cause serious injury was reported at 9 a.m.

**Child cruelty and domestic battery:** 500 block of 23rd Street. Police made an arrest after abuse involving a child and spouse was reported at 10:46 a.m.

**Deadly weapon and vandalism:** 13th Street. A suspect displayed a deadly weapon and caused felony-level property damage at 1:24 p.m.

**Court order violation:** 900 block of Triangle Court. A court order was violated at 2 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 2400 block of Lancaster Drive. Vehicle parts or accessories were stolen at 2 p.m.

**Aggravated assault:** 5000 block of Hartnett Avenue. A spouse or cohabitant was injured, and an arrest was made at 4:36 p.m.

**Sexual assault:** 94804 area. Police took a report involving the rape of an intoxicated victim at 4:48 p.m.

**Drug paraphernalia:** 94804 area. Officers found someone with illegal drug-related items at 6:22 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2000 block of Burbeck Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 6:29 p.m.

**Probation and license violation:** 600 block of South 29th Street. A driver on probation was found driving on a suspended license at 6:40 p.m.

**Resisting arrest and assault on an officer:** 94806 area. A suspect resisted arrest, injured an officer, and earned a trip to the Gray Bar Hotel at 8:27 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 3200 block of Center Avenue. Car thieves played the old switcheroo on wheels at 9 p.m.

**Assault and domestic injury:** 700 block of 21st Street. An assault involving domestic injury was reported at 10:07 p.m.

**Residential burglary:** 400 block of 20th Street. Burglars broke into a home at 11:07 p.m.

**Drug possession:** 94804 area. Police busted someone in possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia charges at 11:13 p.m.

### Friday, January 9, 2026

**Battery and threats:** 2400 block of Maine Avenue. An assault and verbal threats were reported at 8:30 a.m.

**Gone in 60 seconds:** 4200 block of Florida Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 12:27 p.m.

**Hot wheels:** 2900 block of Ohio Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 3 p.m.

**Vandalism and battery:** 94801 area. Officers took someone into custody after property damage, and an assault was reported at 3:29 p.m.

**Battery:** 2nd Street. An assault was reported at 6:58 p.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 1900 block of Meeker Avenue. A business was found to have been forcibly entered at 7:28 p.m.

**Domestic battery:** 3200 block of Annapolis Avenue. Police arrested a suspect on simple assault charges at 7:29 p.m.

**Auto burglary:** 3200 block of Pierce Street. A vehicle was broken into at 8:46 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 500 block of South 49th Street. A vehicle went on a mystery road trip at 9 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 94804 area. Property was reported stolen at 9:55 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 1800 block of Coalinga Avenue. Another car was borrowed without asking at 11 p.m.

**Vandalism:** West Macdonald Avenue. Property was said to have been damaged at 11:16 p.m.

### Saturday, January 10, 2026

**Petty theft:** 3100 block of Shane Drive. Vehicle parts were stolen at 1 a.m.

**Domestic violence and assault:** 2800 block of Lowell Avenue. Domestic battery, child cruelty, terroristic threats, and assault with a deadly weapon were reported at 1:25 a.m.; a suspect was arrested.

**Fast and the felonious:** 1100 block of Roosevelt Avenue. A vehicle was reported stolen at 3:09 a.m.

**Child cruelty and domestic battery:** 3600 block of Macdonald Avenue. Abuse involving a child and a partner was reported at 12:30 p.m.

**Battery:** 1200 block of Macdonald Avenue. An assault was reported at 2:41 p.m.

**DUI:** 94804 area. A driver was arrested for driving under the influence at 9:43 p.m.

### Sunday, January 11, 2026

**Domestic violence:** 2100 block of Costa Avenue. Someone reportedly inflicted corporal injury on a spouse, cohabitant, or dating partner at 3:40 a.m.

**Robbery and firearm violations:** 5400 block of Central Avenue. Three people were arrested in connection with a robbery reported at 3:56 a.m. The suspects were booked on charges including strong-arm robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded handgun by a non-registered owner, carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

**Vandalism:** 300 block of South 38th Street. Property damage valued at $400 or more was reported at 5:18 a.m.

**Assault with a deadly weapon and petty theft:** 2300 block of Macdonald Avenue. An assault with a deadly weapon was reported, and theft from a building occurred at 6:57 a.m.

**Assault, domestic violence, and child cruelty:** 2600 block of Hilltop Drive. Someone reportedly committed assault with force, causing possible great bodily injury, inflicted corporal injury on a spouse, cohabitant, or dating partner, and willfully caused cruelty to a child at 8 a.m.

**Battery with serious bodily injury:** 900 block of West Cutting. Police responded to a report of domestic battery at 3:41 p.m.

**Domestic battery:** 600 block of 32nd Street. A battery involving a spouse, ex-spouse, or dating partner was reported at 6:23 p.m.
