# What happened in Richmond: an attempted murder, a machine-gun bust and a barricade standoff

Vehicle theft and burglary remained among Richmond's most common calls for service between August 31 and September 6\. Officers also investigated an attempted-murder stabbing on Whitecliff Way, an officer shot during a Key Boulevard welfare check that turned into a barricade standoff, three carjackings, including one at gunpoint, an armed robbery that carried child-cruelty charges, a home-invasion robbery, and arrested a felon found with a machine gun and other illegal firearms.

### Monday, August 31

**Carjacking:** 3300 block of Klose Way. A strong-arm carjacking was reported at 12:39 a.m.

**Home burglary:** 2600 block of Center Avenue. A residence was entered without force at 1:58 a.m.

**Grand theft:** 500 block of 21st Street. Property was reported stolen at 3:45 a.m.

**Strong-arm robbery:** 2400 block of Hinkley Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for strong-arm robbery at 6:56 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 2300 block of Macdonald Avenue. A resident reported a theft at 7:15 a.m.

**Domestic violence:** 2200 block of Nevin Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for spousal battery at 7:30 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 600 block of 15th Street. A car break-in was reported at 8:06 a.m.

**Grand theft:** Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. A resident reported property missing at 9 a.m.

**Vehicle parts theft:** 800 block of 33rd Street. Someone stripped parts from a vehicle, according to a report filed at 9:08 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 11900 block of San Pablo Avenue. A car vanished from the block at 9:20 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 1900 block of Barrett Avenue. Someone broke into a parked car at 9:23 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 600 block of 13th Street. A theft was called in at 9:46 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 3500 block of McBryde Avenue. A car was gone by the time its owner returned at 10:47 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 600 block of 36th Street. A parked car was broken into and vandalized at 11:55 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 1500 block of Chanslor Avenue. A vehicle was burglarized at 12:05 p.m.

**Fraud:** 600 block of Juliga Woods Street. A resident reported losing more than $400 in a fraud scheme at 12:20 p.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 3000 block of Tulare Avenue. Thieves broke into a parked car, according to a report filed at 12:30 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 5600 block of Sacramento Avenue. A car left an empty space at the curb at 12:30 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 2600 block of Hinkley Avenue. A stolen car was recovered at 12:55 p.m.

**Reckless driving:** Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. A reckless driver was spotted at 1:46 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2100 block of Nevin Avenue. A car slipped away unnoticed at 2:18 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 100 block of Ohio Avenue. A car disappeared from the block at 2:56 p.m.

**Attempted murder:** 4400 block of Whitecliff Way. An afternoon incident generated four charges: attempted murder with a knife, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, and resisting arrest, at 2:57 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 11900 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for petty theft at 4 p.m.

**Home burglary:** 3000 block of Barrett Avenue. A residence was forced open and vandalized at 4:45 p.m.

**Grand theft:** 4800 block of Wall Avenue. Property was taken from a building at 5:30 p.m.

**Aggravated assault:** 300 block of Marina Way. Police arrested a suspect for assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats at 5:30 p.m.

**Sexual assault:** 600 block of South 33rd Street. A person was reportedly sexually assaulted at 7 p.m.

**Child abuse:** 4100 block of Ohio Avenue. A child was reportedly endangered at 8:19 p.m.

**Court violation:** 500 block of 6th Street. A person was reported for violating a court order and making criminal threats at 8:20 p.m.

### Tuesday, September 1

**Vehicle burglary:** 400 block of 40th Street. A car break-in was called in at 12:30 a.m.

**Home invasion:** 300 block of 6th Street. A home-invasion robbery was reported at 2:21 a.m.

**Carjacking:** San Pablo Avenue and Barrett Avenue. Police responded to a carjacking at gunpoint report at 3:39 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 3000 block of Center Avenue. A car went missing at 4:27 a.m.

**Grand theft:** 3000 block of Roosevelt Avenue. A resident reported property stolen at 8:33 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. Officers took a theft report at 9:38 a.m.

**Grand theft:** Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Property was reported stolen at 9:45 a.m.

**Domestic violence:** 4500 block of Macdonald Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for inflicting injury on a domestic partner at 10:16 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 5700 block of Carlos Avenue. A car went missing from the block at 12:26 p.m.

**U-embezzle:** 1000 block of 23rd Street. A leased vehicle was reportedly embezzled at 1:20 p.m.

**Identity fraud:** 600 block of South 37th Street. An identity fraud was reported at 1:57 p.m.

**Strong-arm robbery:** 300 block of 24th Street. A strong-arm robbery was reported at 2:25 p.m.

**Home burglary:** 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. A residence was entered without force at 3:28 p.m.

**Alcohol violation:** Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. An open-container violation was reported at 4:15 p.m.

**Court violation:** 4100 block of Leke Way. A person was reported for violating a court order and possessing drug paraphernalia at 4:40 p.m.

**Drug possession:** 2500 block of Macdonald Avenue. Drug paraphernalia possession was reported at 4:56 p.m.

**Firearms arrest:** 400 block of Macdonald Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for carrying a concealed, unregistered loaded handgun with a large-capacity magazine at 6:01 p.m.

**Vehicle parts theft:** 5300 block of Carriage Drive. A vehicle was stripped of parts at 6:30 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 400 block of Wilson Avenue. A car was gone by 8 p.m.

**Drug possession:** 1300 block of Carlson Boulevard. Drug and paraphernalia possession was reported at 8:14 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2800 block of Mcbryde Avenue. A car was gone from the block by 8:38 p.m.

**Drug possession:** 1300 block of Macdonald Avenue. Drug paraphernalia possession was reported at 8:50 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 2100 block of Meeker Avenue. A resident reported a theft at 9:08 p.m.

**Armed robbery:** 3000 block of Cutting Boulevard. A late-night incident generated four charges: armed robbery, assault with a firearm, exhibiting a deadly weapon, and cruelty to a child, at 9:44 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** C Street. A previously stolen car turned up at 10:45 p.m.

### Wednesday, September 2

**Drug possession:** 1500 block of Maine Avenue. Marijuana possession over the legal limit was reported at 12:19 a.m.

**Police arrested a suspect for motor vehicle theft:** 300 block of 24th Street. The arrest also included possession of a stolen vehicle and false personation at 4:34 a.m.

**Mail theft:** 300 block of 30th Street. Mail was reported stolen at 5 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2nd Street. A car was taken from the block at 8 a.m.

**Police arrested a suspect for possessing stolen vehicle parts:** 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue. The arrest also included displaying a false disabled-person placard with intent to defraud, at 12:30 p.m.

**Child abuse:** 200 block of Macdonald Avenue. A child was reportedly injured at 12:52 p.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 3000 block of Research Drive. A business was broken into at 1 p.m.

**Battery:** 2200 block of Nevin Avenue. A battery was reported at 1:26 p.m.

**Criminal threats:** 4900 block of Hartnett Avenue. A person was reported for making criminal threats at 3:22 p.m.

**Reckless driving:** Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. A reckless driving violation was reported at 3:51 p.m.

**Aggravated assault:** 200 block of 16th Street. A battery causing serious bodily injury was reported at 6:30 p.m.

**Criminal threats:** 700 block of Rock Rose Way. A public fight and someone making criminal threats were reported at 7 p.m.

**Hit-and-run:** 900 block of Lincoln Avenue. A driver struck property and fled at 10:04 p.m.

**Carjacking:** 400 block of 37th Street. A strong-arm carjacking was reported at 10:12 p.m.

### Thursday, September 3

**Vehicle recovery:** 1600 block of Chanslor Avenue. Officers located a stolen vehicle at midnight.

**Grand theft:** 1800 block of Rheem Avenue. A resident reported property stolen at midnight.

**Vehicle theft:** 2200 block of Costa Avenue, San Pablo. A car went missing from the block at midnight.

**Hit-and-run:** 2400 block of Downer Avenue. A driver fled the scene after striking property, according to a report filed at 12:52 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 3100 block of Ohio Avenue. A car break-in was reported at 2 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 200 block of South 3rd Street. Someone broke into a parked car at 3 a.m.

**Domestic violence:** 2600 block of Cutting Boulevard. Police arrested a suspect for inflicting injury on a domestic partner and assault with a deadly weapon at 9 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 600 block of South 31st Street. A theft was called in at 10:43 a.m.

**Intimidation:** Washington Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for making criminal threats at 10:43 a.m.

**Domestic violence:** 5200 block of Clinton Avenue. A domestic battery was reported at 12:09 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 200 block of Marina Way. A resident reported a theft at 1:34 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 1200 block of Melville Square. Officers took a theft report at 1:51 p.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 300 block of Harbour Way South. A parked vehicle was hit by a burglar at 2:02 p.m.

**Grand theft:** 300 block of West Ohio Avenue. A theft was reported at 2:14 p.m.

**Vehicle parts theft:** 500 block of Nevin Avenue. Parts were stripped from a vehicle at 3:32 p.m.

**Drug arrest:** Somewhere in the 94801 zip code. Police arrested a suspect for possessing marijuana for sale and a controlled narcotic substance at 5:45 p.m.

**Battery:** West Richmond Avenue. A battery was reported at 6:15 p.m.

**Officer shot:** 2200 block of Key Boulevard. An officer was shot responding to a welfare check at 6:41 p.m., and a suspect barricaded herself inside and kept firing into the surrounding neighborhood, striking nearby homes, vehicles, and a patrol car, before a SWAT standoff ended in an arrest.

**Armed robbery:** 1500 block of Cutting Boulevard. A robbery involving a dangerous weapon was reported at 11:06 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 100 block of South 11th Street. A car was taken from the block at 11:45 p.m.

### Friday, September 4

**Identity fraud:** 1000 block of Inverness Court. An identity fraud was reported at midnight.

**Vehicle theft:** 800 block of 37th Street. A car vanished from the block at 1:30 a.m.

**Reckless driving:** Near St and Ohio Avenue. Police arrested a suspect for reckless driving, an illegal speed contest, and resisting arrest at 1:44 a.m.

**Boosted on Bissell:** 1700 block of Bissell Avenue. A car went missing from the block at 2 a.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 2200 block of Ohio Avenue. A car was taken sometime before 2:35 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 2800 block of Lincoln Avenue. A car break-in was reported at 4:40 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 200 block of Harbour Way South. Someone broke into a parked car at 7:10 a.m.

**Domestic violence:** 200 block of South 37th Street. A spousal battery was reported at 7:45 a.m.

**Illegal dumping:** 5300 block of Dalai Lama Avenue. Illegal dumping was reported at 8 a.m.

**Aggravated assault:** 600 block of 11th Street. An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at 10:17 a.m.

**Fraud:** 400 block of Metro Walk Way. Identity theft-related credit fraud was reported at 10:26 a.m.

**Domestic violence:** 2600 block of Hilltop Drive. Police arrested a suspect for spousal battery at 10:30 a.m.

**Firearms bust:** Somewhere in the 94805 zip code. A person was charged with eight offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a machine gun, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and a probation violation, at 10:57 a.m.

**Home burglary:** 1200 block of Greenway Drive. A residence was forced open at 11:01 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 700 block of 36th Street. A previously stolen car turned up at 12:09 p.m.

**Assault on officer:** Somewhere in the 94804 zip code. A driver fled a hit-and-run, evaded police, and was accused of assaulting an officer at 2:22 a.m.

**Weapons violation:** 200 block of South 12th Street. Unlawful possession of tear gas was reported at 5:08 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 700 block of 26th Street. A car break-in was reported at 6:13 a.m.

**DUI arrest:** 300 block of 32nd Street. Police arrested a driver for DUI at 7:39 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 3200 block of Pierce Street. Someone broke into a parked car at 8 a.m.

**Vehicle parts theft:** 4800 block of Central Avenue. A vehicle was stripped of parts at 10:25 a.m.

**Hit-and-run:** 1900 block of Cutting Boulevard. A driver fled the scene at 8:06 p.m.

**Vehicle theft:** 700 block of 21st Street. A car turned up missing at 7:48 p.m.
