# What happened in Richmond: A week of fires, fights and disappearing cars

Thieves and arsonists kept Richmond police busy this week, cars disappeared by the dozen, fires bookended a Sunday, homes were broken into, weapons were brandished, and the week closed with a driver fleeing a crash after drinking.

### Richmond crime incidents 

### Monday, March 23

**Vehicle recovery:** 200 block of S. 9th Street. A wandering car was reunited with civilization at 12:40 a.m.

**Arson:** Undisclosed location in 94801\. A fire was set deliberately at 4:44 a.m.

**Petty theft:** 4500 block of Macdonald Avenue. Property was reported stolen at 9 a.m.

**Residential burglary:** 600 block of 23rd Street. Someone let themselves into a residence uninvited at 11 a.m.

**Child abuse and domestic violence:** 300 block of Beck Street. Police arrested someone suspected of harming a child and a domestic partner at 1 p.m.

**Vandalism and vehicle burglary:** 3200 block of Pierce Street. A vehicle was broken into, and property was damaged at 1:19 p.m.

**Vehicle burglary and vandalism:** 5500 block of Central Avenue. A vehicle was broken into, and property was damaged at 1:32 p.m.

**Exhibiting a deadly weapon, criminal threats and drug possession:** Chanslor Circle. Police arrested someone after a weapon was brandished, a crime was threatened with intent to terrorize, and drugs were found in the village at 2 p.m.

**Car theft:** 3000 block of Lowell Avenue. Someone drove off with a car that did not belong to them at 4 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 4500 block of Macdonald Avenue. A previously missing car turned up at 4:11 p.m.

**Child annoyance:** 700 block of 5th Street. A person was reported for annoying or molesting a minor at 5:34 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 12800 block of San Pablo Avenue. Retail merchandise was reported stolen at 6:39 p.m.

**Theft from and embezzlement of an elder:** 5100 block of Channel Avenue. Property was stolen from an elder or dependent adult, and embezzlement was reported at 6:44 p.m.

**Car theft:** 2700 block of Foothill Avenue. A car slipped away without permission at 7 p.m.

**DUI:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. A DUI was reported at 7 p.m.

**Battery and criminal threats:** 500 block of Banks Drive. A person was attacked and a crime was threatened with intent to terrorize at 7:08 p.m.

**Domestic violence and child abuse:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. A domestic partner and a child were harmed at 7:14 p.m.

**Car theft:** 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. A car was last seen headed somewhere it wasn't supposed to go at 8 p.m.

**A car made a quiet exit without its owner:** 100 block of S. 11th Street. The disappearance was reported at 9 p.m.

**DUI:** Cutting Boulevard and Carlson Boulevard. A DUI was reported at 9:54 p.m.

**Possession of child sexual abuse material:** Cutting Boulevard and Carlson Boulevard. Police arrested someone on a charge of possessing obscene material depicting a minor at 9:54 p.m.

**Assault with a deadly weapon:** 1900 block of Florida Avenue. Police arrested someone after a person was assaulted with a deadly weapon, and an assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury was reported at 10:57 p.m.

**Commercial burglary:** 4900 block of Cypress Avenue. A commercial property was forcibly entered at 11:23 p.m.

### Tuesday, March 24

**Domestic violence:** Railroad Avenue. A domestic partner was physically harmed, and sexual battery was reported at midnight.

**Car theft:** 400 block of 38th Street. A car disappeared into the night at 1 a.m.

**Battery on an emergency worker:** 1100 block of Cutting Boulevard. An emergency responder was physically attacked at 10:15 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 5000 block of Plaza Circle. A previously missing car was tracked down at 10:48 a.m.

**Child annoyance:** 2600 block of Barnard Street. A person was reported for annoying a minor at 11 a.m.

**Armed robbery:** 300 block of 4th Street. A robbery at weapon-point was reported at 11:58 a.m.

**Car theft:** 2400 block of Maine Avenue. A car went for a drive that nobody authorized at 7:45 a.m.

**Car theft:** 900 block of Chanslor Avenue. A car disappeared at 8:38 a.m.

**Vandalism:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. Property was defaced at 2:59 p.m.

**Grand theft from a vehicle:** 4800 block of Central Avenue. Property was reported stolen from a motor vehicle at 4 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. A previously missing vehicle was located at 5:13 p.m.

**Child abuse:** 1500 block of Cutting Boulevard. A child was harmed at 5:15 p.m.

**Petty theft:** 500 block of 9th Street. Property was reported stolen at 6 p.m.

**Contempt of court:** 800 block of Jetty Drive. A person was found in violation of a court order at 6:31 p.m.

**Evading an officer:** Undisclosed location in 94806\. A driver led officers on a chase at 7:30 p.m.

**Criminal threats and shoplifting:** 1200 block of Macdonald Avenue. A crime was allegedly threatened with intent to terrorize, and shoplifting was also reported at 8 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. Another missing car came home at 8:49 p.m.

**Armed robbery and child abuse:** 2400 block of Aberdeen Way. A robbery at gunpoint and harm to a child were reported at 8:55 p.m.

**Disorderly conduct, vandalism, and drug possession:** 200 block of Marina Way. Police arrested someone after loitering, property damage, and drug paraphernalia were reported at 9 p.m.

**Negligent discharge of a firearm:** 3100 block of Shane Drive. A firearm was recklessly discharged at 9:13 p.m.

**A car went off on its own terms:** 3000 block of Groom Drive. It was gone without a trace at 10 p.m.

**Vandalism:** 2400 block of Downer Avenue. Property was damaged at 11:30 p.m.

**Domestic battery and child abuse:** 1700 block of Cutting Boulevard. Police arrested someone after a domestic partner was attacked and a child was harmed at midnight.

**Grand theft and receiving stolen property:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. Police arrested someone after property was stolen and stolen goods were found at midnight.

**Unauthorized joyride:** 2700 block of Foothill Avenue. Someone drove off with a car at 12:20 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 11th Street. A previously missing car turned up, and another one was reported missing from the same block at 2:36 a.m.

**Car theft:** 1400 block of S. 58th Street. Another car was gone before anyone noticed at 3:01 a.m.

**Assault with a deadly weapon:** 300 block of 44th Street. A person was assaulted with a deadly weapon at 4:40 a.m.

**A car was relieved of its owner's company:** 600 block of 5th Street. The wheels went with a stranger at 5:30 a.m.

**Car theft:** Undisclosed location in 94801\. The disappearance was reported at 8 a.m.

**Residential burglary:** 100 block of S. 37th Street. Someone crept into a residence uninvited at 8:14 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary:** 200 block of West Chanslor Avenue. A vehicle was broken into at 8:50 a.m.

**Vehicle burglary and residential burglary:** 100 block of S. 21st Street. A vehicle and a residence were both entered without force at 2 a.m.

**A car rolled out without permission:** 5000 block of Fallon Avenue. The owner had no idea until it was too late at 9:27 a.m.

**Robbery:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. A strong-arm robbery was reported at 10:05 a.m.

**Battery:** 500 block of Marina Way. A person was physically attacked at 12:29 p.m.

**Domestic court order violation:** 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Police arrested someone for violating a court order to prevent domestic violence at 2 p.m.

**Contempt of court:** 200 block of Marina Way. A person was found in violation of a court order at 2:28 p.m.

**Criminal threats:** 1100 block of Roosevelt Avenue. A crime was allegedly threatened with intent to terrorize at 3:46 p.m.

**Cocaine possession for sale:** Undisclosed location in 94801\. Cocaine base was found packaged for sale at 5:01 p.m.

**A car headed for the hills:** 300 block of 44th Street. It left without saying goodbye at 9 p.m.

**Vandalism, disorderly conduct, and threatening a public officer:** 1100 block of Cutting Boulevard. Property was damaged, public intoxication was reported, and a public officer was threatened at 9:30 p.m.

**Stalking and criminal threats:** 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. A person was reportedly stalked, and a crime was threatened with intent to terrorize at 11 p.m.

### Thursday, March 26

**Commercial burglary and vehicle theft:** 300 block of Carlson Boulevard. Police arrested someone after a commercial property was entered without force and a car was driven off without permission at 2:45 a.m.

**A car went AWOL:** 2300 block of Aberdeen Way. Someone helped themselves to a car at 4:32 a.m.

**Criminal threats and harassing phone calls:** 2400 block of Lancaster Drive. A crime was allegedly threatened with intent to terrorize, and harassing calls were reported at 6:32 a.m.

**Domestic violence and child abuse:** 300 block of S. 5th Street. Police arrested someone after a domestic partner and a child were physically harmed at 9 a.m.

**Car theft:** 4800 block of Berk Avenue. A car was reported missing at 10:51 a.m.

**Another car that forgot who it belonged to:** Nevin Avenue. The parking spot was empty by 11:41 a.m.

**Vandalism:** 400 block of 22nd Street. Property damage valued at $400 or more was reported at 1 p.m.

**Vehicle burglary and grand theft:** 2100 block of Barrett Avenue. A vehicle was broken into, and property was stolen at 1:49 p.m.

**A car quietly disappeared:** 4700 block of Hartnett Avenue. Someone gave it an unsanctioned new home at 2:30 p.m.

**Drug paraphernalia and alcohol violations:** 1100 block of Macdonald Avenue. Drug paraphernalia and an open alcohol container were reported at 3:12 p.m.

**Assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury and child abuse:** 2400 block of Hinkley Avenue. A person was assaulted, and a child was harmed at 7:47 p.m.

**Domestic battery:** 100 block of Chariot Court. A domestic partner was physically attacked at 9:22 p.m.

**Criminal threats:** 300 block of W. Macdonald Avenue. A crime was allegedly threatened with intent to terrorize at 10:05 p.m.

**DUI and driving without a license:** Undisclosed location in 94805\. A DUI and driving without a license were reported at 11:06 p.m.

**Armed robbery:** 900 block of Triangle Court. A robbery at weapon-point was reported at 11:22 p.m.

### Friday, March 27

**Vehicle tampering and vandalism:** Undisclosed location in 94801\. A vehicle was tampered with, and property was damaged at midnight.

**Vehicle burglary and robbery:** 400 block of 20th Street. A vehicle was broken into, and a strong-arm robbery was reported at midnight.

**Theft of vehicle parts:** Location undisclosed. Parts were reported stripped from a motor vehicle at midnight.

**Fight:** 11900 block of San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito. A public fight was reported at midnight.

**Assault with a deadly weapon:** 2400 block of Lancaster Drive. A person was assaulted with a deadly weapon, and an assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury was reported at 2:20 a.m.

**DUI:** 3000 block of Cutting Boulevard. A DUI was reported at 2:45 a.m.

**Public intoxication and drug paraphernalia:** Undisclosed location in 94801\. Police arrested someone on public intoxication and drug paraphernalia charges at 7 a.m.

**Car theft:** 500 block of 16th Street. Thieves took a car on an early morning excursion at 7:05 a.m.

**Theft from a vehicle:** 3200 block of Maricopa Avenue. Items were reported stolen from a motor vehicle at 8:03 a.m.

**A car packed up and left without its owner:** 300 block of 44th Street. It departed under new, unauthorized management at 8:26 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 500 block of 6th Street. A previously missing car turned up at 10:47 a.m.

**Vandalism:** 800 block of 24th Street. Property damage valued at less than $400 was reported at 11:15 a.m.

**Domestic battery and criminal threats:** 3600 block of Waller Avenue. Police arrested someone after a domestic partner was attacked and an officer was threatened at 9:33 a.m.

**Trespassing, battery on a police officer, and false ID:** 2400 block of Aberdeen Way. Police made multiple arrests for trespassing, attacking an officer, and providing false identification to police at 3:25 p.m.

**Contempt of court:** 500 block of Jetty Drive. A person was found in violation of a court order at 4:45 p.m.

**Domestic battery:** 700 block of S. 41st Street. A domestic partner was physically attacked at 6:23 p.m.

**An unsolicited public display:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. Police arrested someone on an indecent exposure charge at 10:15 p.m.

**Solicitation:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. Police arrested someone on a prostitution charge at 11:03 p.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 2600 block of Kenney Drive, San Pablo. A previously missing vehicle turned up at 8 a.m.

### Saturday, March 28

**A car kicked off the day by leaving without its owner:** 2400 block of Hinkley Avenue. The owner's parking luck ran out at midnight.

**Grand theft:** 2500 block of Spinnaker Way. Property was reported stolen at midnight.

**DUI:** Undisclosed location in 94804\. Police arrested a driver on DUI charges at 12:59 a.m.

**Minor in possession of alcohol:** Undisclosed location in 94801\. A minor was found in possession of alcohol at 2:35 a.m.

**DUI:** 5400 block of Central Avenue. Police arrested a driver on DUI charges at 3:56 a.m.

**A car vanished in the early hours:** 700 block of 6th Street. Someone decided finders keepers at 6:11 a.m.

**A car was gone before breakfast:** 800 block of 8th Street. It evaporated from the block at 8:06 a.m.

**Contempt of court:** 700 block of 10th Street. Someone was found in violation of a protective order at 8 a.m.

**Hit-and-run:** 300 block of 28th Street. A driver fled the scene of a property damage collision at 9:40 a.m.

**Grand theft shoplifting:** 1400 block of Hilltop Mall Road. A grand theft shoplifting was reported at 11:15 a.m.

**Vehicle recovery:** 2400 block of Hinkley Avenue. The car that vanished at midnight turned up a few hours later at 12:31 p.m.

**Battery:** 800 block of Carlson Boulevard. A person was physically attacked at 5:29 p.m.

**Domestic violence:** 3800 block of Fleming Avenue. A domestic partner was reportedly physically harmed at 5:38 p.m.

**DUI:** 2300 block of Downer Avenue. A DUI was reported at 8:54 p.m.

### Sunday, March 29

**Arson:** 700 block of Amador Street. A property was deliberately set on fire at 5:10 a.m.

**Car thefts:** Six vehicles went missing across Richmond on Sunday, from the 700 block of 20th Street at 5:26 a.m., an undisclosed location in 94801 at 6:27 a.m., Nevin Avenue at 9 a.m., the 300 block of South 18th Street at 9:30 a.m., the 4800 block of Wall Avenue at 9:32 a.m., and the 1300 block of Maine Avenue at 12:47 p.m.

**Driving under the influence:** 1700 block of Regatta Boulevard. A DUI was reported at 2:15 p.m.

**Arson:** 600 block of Stege Avenue. Another fire was deliberately set, the second arson of the day, at 2:54 p.m.

**Vandalism:** 4600 block of Cutting Boulevard. Property damage valued at $400 or more was reported at 6:49 p.m.

**DUI and hit-and-run:** 600 block of 18th Street. A driver struck a vehicle and fled the scene at 7:39 p.m.
